The ocean has a salt and mineral content of more than 30% and 10 times more than in other seas. The salt water makes you float rather than swim in the Dead Sea. The salinity is due to the Dead Sea has no outlet, partly due to the surrounding mountains, the salt rock. During the rainy season flows amounts of dissolved salts into the sea and then stops behind when water evaporates. The beautiful "sand" on the ocean floor is in fact nothing more than salt. Its waters contain 26 different beneficial minerals that are important to our health, and 12 of these are not available in any other ocean.
It is claimed that the history of the world's most famous beauty, the Queen of Sheba, discovered the cosmetic effect of bathing in the mineral-rich water sources. Many call the Dead Sea for "the sea of life."
